Swansea based Pro-Grafix and Valley Signs and Engraving joined forces and improved the view for some of Glangwili Hospital’s young guests…

Large institutions like hospitals have quite an appetite for signs and graphics. That’s probably because a hospital of any reasonable size compares more readily to a small town than it does to a collection of buildings. There’s always something being built, something being changed or something new arriving.

Swansea based Pro-Grafix is probably on speed-dial with Glangwili Hospital and works regularly with them. On this occasion it was to deal with some of the infrastructure attending some on-site construction work and in particular building crew accommodation cabins that presented a less than flattering view out of the windows of a children’s ward opposite.

The cabins couldn’t be moved out of sight so it was decided that they’d be wrapped in something the kids would find a bit more engaging than the units’ blank exteriors. The team at Pro-Grafix prescribed just the thing. A montage of popular cartoon characters arranged into a colourful and memorable mural which would brighten up the view considerably.

Pro-Grafix got the go-ahead for its concept and worked with its near neighbour Valley Group to procure the images needed and the licences required. Pro-Grafix then set to work with the design and editing needed to make its winning mural fit the complex space available and Valley Group printed and laminated the graphics.

Installation fell to the team at Pro-Grafix and proceeded without a hitch thanks to the detailed upstream planning and the quality of the print-production. Once applied, it was clear that the mural represented one of those jobs you want to stand back and admire. The splash of colour cheers up the view and brightens the day for all who see it.

Helping Pro-Grafix and Valley Group improve the view is a sizeable helping of Metamark Digital Media with MD5-A and its MG-700 laminate. MD-Class digital materials are born to the role of transformations like this with poppy colour and razor sharp resolution there for the taking. And speaking of improving the view, Metamark ClearVision CV2 has been used to provide the graphics’ continuity across the cabins’ windows without impeding the view our for those inside the units.
