CELEBRATE

CELEBRATE

Bath 23 - Leicester 21 - Bath Rugby celebrates in style, with some help from Dragon Signs, as the team gets its hands on the Gallagher Premiership title...

With a wait of almost thirty years having come to a rapturous and dramatic end for Bath Rugby at Twickenham in June ’25, the team got to lift the Gallagher Premiership cup. It was an historic day for Bath. As little as three years ago, Bath Rugby was bumping along at the bottom of the premiership and the big win at Twickenham put an emphatic end to its years of drought.

The team and its entourage got to say thank you to the legions of fans and supporters who never wavered while Bath was finding its form, and that culminated in an open-topped bus tour of the City of Bath in blazing sunshine. Words rarely do justice to events of celebration at this scale, but the City of Bath has rarely seen the like of it. Milsom Street was stacked with thousands of fans all keen to get a glimpse of their heroes and Pulteney Bridge was similarly ‘a sea of blue’ awash with celebrating fans. Safe to say that, on that day, the tourists who’re usually a feature of the city were out smiled and outnumbered.

The open-topped bus tour has become a firm fixture when there’s cause to celebrate and to involve an army of fans who want to get close to the action and a decent view of what’s going on. It’s a good thing for those on the bus too. They get a mobile stage, elevated above their public and a chance to be a big part of the atmosphere. Such bus tours have been around for a while, but now that it’s possible to totally brand vehicles at short notice, a wrap is pretty much a mandatory part of the event, and it really contributes to the occasion.

Dragon Signs has an association with Bath Rugby and was awarded the job of wrapping the busses at the centre of the celebration. Had Bath gone down on the day, the plan was to send one bus out to thank everyone for their support. In the event, Bath triumphed on the Saturday and so a second wrapped bus was needed for the very next day to deliver the full-strength celebration.

Bath Rugby can claim its share of heroes for winning on the day, but Dragon Signs’ team deserves a little of the spotlight too for working all night and delivering a second, total coverage bus wrap complete with all the correct lettering and graphics. The resources and capabilities needed to deliver under such time pressure speak to Dragon Signs’ stature as signage and graphics producers and hint at why the company is the success it is.

Metamark MCX was used for the bus body colour-change element of the wraps and Metamark M7 for the cut and applied lettering. MCX has a good reputation for working well in skilled hands when a deadline’s pressing and it acquitted itself well. Needless to say, time pressure or not, the wraps are exemplary and the application quality a real credit to the Dragon Signs team who delivered overnight.

Congratulations are due to all involved on this occasion and particularly Bath Rugby.
