BP ROLLS IS NOT A BUSINESS THAT HAS ARRIVED OVERNIGHT.

BP ROLLS IS NOT A BUSINESS THAT HAS ARRIVED OVERNIGHT.

Nearly sixty years after its founding in basic vehicle repainting, it has grown into a large, multi-site operation that now offers accident repair, specialist painting, maintenance, and other services to the country’s most conspicuous and valuable brands’ fleets.

BP Rolls owns and operates one of the country’s best equipped and creative graphics divisions that design, produces, installs, manages, and maintains fleet livery at impressive scale.

The business has carved out a strong position in commercial vehicle work. Supermarket home-delivery fleets, flat-sided vans, and trailers dominate the workload, with full wraps becoming an increasingly important part of the mix. Dan Rennison, Signs and Graphics Manager, who has been with the business for nearly sixteen years, has seen that side of the operation transform. Since he joined, the graphics department has expanded continuously to keep pace with customer demand for the services BP Rolls offers.

That growth has been mirrored in BP Rolls’ long relationship with Metamark. The connection stretches back more than twenty years and has evolved from a straightforward supply arrangement into what Dan describes as ‘a genuine partnership.’

“It’s moved from being a simple supplier relationship” he says. “Metamark understands what we need and will work with us to make it happen. The service extended and materials offered reflect our needs.”

From the outset, material performance and consistency were core needs BP Rolls expected to be met. The MetaSure™ warranty, reliable availability, and the ability to supply bespoke roll sizes all played a part, but support services proved just as important.

Issues, when they arise, are dealt with quickly and pragmatically, a critical factor for a business managing high volumes of vehicles and tight turnaround times. “You need to know that what you’re using today will perform the same tomorrow,” Dan notes. “Especially when you’re working at the kind of scale that defines the projects we do.”

Metamark MD5A has become one of BP Rolls’ workhorse materials, chosen because, in Dan’s words, “it simply works and is industry leading.” Alongside it, the M7 colour range underpins much of the company’s fleet and livery work, with colour consistency and finish ranking just as highly as ease of application.

Metamark’s support has also enabled BP Rolls to expand its offering into additional specialist areas, particularly chevrons. Competitive pricing, recognised quality, and bespoke colour matching have opened doors to new opportunities and helped build trust with end customers too.

Sustainability is now firmly part of everyone’s customer-facing conversations. BP Rolls’ involvement in the MetaStream® recycling scheme was driven by a practical frustration: what’s now perfectly recyclable material going straight into skips. Customer scrutiny and tender requirements have only intensified the company’s focus. MetaStream has delivered a practical resolution that customers like.

Day to day, the relationship is defined by accessibility and technical backup. When an issue arose with laminate lifting on cut text, Metamark worked through the problem alongside BP Rolls until it was resolved. Asked what a good supplier relationship looks like, Dan’s answer is to the point: “Metamark,” he says.

Looking ahead, BP Rolls is deterring to deliver continuing growth, quite possibly beyond the capacity of its current facilities. Closer collaboration Metamark features in it planning too. Recent news of UPM’s investment in Metamark has only reinforced that BP Rolls’ confidence. “From our point of view, it can only be a good thing,” Dan reflects. “More backing and buying power should mean better efficiencies and improvements all round.”
