That IS the question. A bit of simple image manipulation and some great materials and printing deliver an exceptional sign for a customer of Sign Express Newcastle…
Coffee On The Corner was beginning to look a little sorry for itself and so its proprietors did what lots of a small and large businesses in Newcastle Upon Tyne do when they want to freshen up their outlook or rebrand, they picked up the ‘phone to Signs Express (Newcastle) and started talking signs and graphics.
Coffee On The Corner’s story was a familiar one. A sign over the window that was beginning to look past its sell-by date, window graphics no longer pulling their weight and a general feel of being a little behind events. Adam Greave and the Signs Express team are no strangers to helping businesses of all shapes and sizes and with highly variable budgets to improve their outlook and so the job began.
A fascia sign constructed with with a natural wooden back-panel and fitted with fretted letters fixed on stand off mounts would have a very wholesome feel, that’s just perfect for a coffee shop. It’s alter-ego though would have been an invoice just a bit too strong for the business’s tastes. Rather than walk away from a sound idea though, the team at Signs Express came up with the very next best thing. A sign that looks like its rendered from all those materials.
Working with a design all its own, and within a tight budget, the team printed the fascia sign’s details on Metamark MD3. Metamark MD3 resolves fine detail and does so brilliantly. It needed too. Part of the design involved convincing drop shadows that, confused by the wood rendering behind, ‘lifted’ the lettering elements off the face creating a convincing 3D effect that does the job of looking dimensional.
A dash of Metamark Etch Effects window detailing and a little Metamark M7 lettering completed an ensemble that simply, and affordably, transforms the coffee shop’s fascia so that it’s part of the contemporary setting once again. Making a little go a long way is a cornerstone of creative design. Signs Express Newcastle has delivered a sign that punches above its weight.
