A POTENT BREW

A POTENT BREW

When your products have some of the most eclectic names imaginable, labelling them yourself is probably a good option…

Cheddar is arguably most readily associated with the cheese of the same name and so ‘Cheddar Coffee’ raises an eyebrow here and there at the very mention. Cheddar Coffee though is a thriving blender situated not far from the famous gorge and it’s products are in demand.

Used, as we are, to coffee blends and brands typically named so as to evoke steamy jungles and tropical islands, Cheddar Coffee’s schema for naming its wonderful blends might exercise the mind a little. After all, what could ‘Monkey Rock’ possibly have to do with coffee?

Fact is, Monkey Rock, and other blends upcoming from Cheddar Coffee, owe the origins of their names not to something East of Java, but rather closer to home around Cheddar. The gorge and surrounds are formed of limestone and are riddled with fissures and caves - many very famous. Their fame is going to spread. Cheddar Coffee’s products are often named after them and, you guessed, Monkey Rock is a cave.

Cheddar Coffee used, at one time, to have its labels printed much as any of us might have a label made, in volume and by a print business. With the highly customised nature of its products and consequently the need to make many label variants, that got a bit cumbersome. Someone with an expertise in the field suggested to Christopher Homer and the team at Cheddar Coffee that they make their own labels.

So they do.

Having hunted down an older Roland VersaCAMM (do they EVER die?) and familiarised themselves with its ways, Cheddar Coffee found its way to Metamark and had a conversation about materials for labels. Obviously, there’s no need for the extremes of durability most Metamark products offer, but quality was a towering requirement.

In the event, Metamark MD-100 got the job. MD-100 pops up here and there and from time-to-time. It’s not out there boldly propelling the brands and owners of big fleets to fame like other product in our Materials stable, but it’s an MD-Class product nonetheless. That means it prints BRILLIANTLY on Roland and other hardware and produces sensational results. Just like Cheddar Coffee with its signature blends.

Keep an eye on our social feeds for more news about Cheddar Coffee and its blends. Meantime, should you fancy a cup or two, think Cheddar, not Java.
