If you want a new vehicle livery that’s a bit different to vehicle liveries as usual, The Vinyl Guys, based in Stourbridge, have a habit of getting it right…
The Vinyl Guys pop up regularly in the Metamark Twitter feed and always have something novel to talk about or share. The Stourbridge based business has produced some notable works recently and is making a bit of a name for itself with its inventive vehicle liveries. There can’t be that many liveries that people want to take selfies with but, The Wasp van, as it’s known, is one such vehicle reported here and it was The Vinyl Guys’ doing.
Twitter seems to be working for The Vinyl Guys. It recently sent another business looking for a vehicle livery to the door of Alex Liggett and his team. One Stop Cable Shop provides much needed services and products in the age where people operate more in networks than they do in places. That need needs cable and components. One Stop Cable Shop has them. It also has vehicles that need liveries.
The brief, when it came to The Vinyl Guys, was a snow white and expansive blank canvas. All The Vinyl Guys were told was ‘something a bit different’ was needed. That’ll happen when you’ve built a reputation for supplying just that! Alex went away and considered the situation and came up with an idea involving legions of little characters swarming over the cables and hardware that reflect the client’s trade. He did a design, and also proposed that it be different on each side of the vehicle. The very first visual scored. The customer approved it for production.
Out with the Metamark MD5 and the matching MetaGuard Laminate and ink was soon on vinyl in a truly unique design. Small, soldier-like workmen, cables and networking hardware form the now larger than life elements that grace the side of the client’s vehicles. It makes the head turn because it is that bit different. It gets remembered because it’s not something you’ll see often - if ever.
The lettering on the vehicles is a reflection of the client’s existing logo. Alex and team hotted it up a bit though and made it suitable for printing at high resolution. No complaints from the Metamark MD5, it handles all the detail and the ink brilliantly.
It’s another winner from The Vinyl Guys. The client thinks so too. The same design is being worked up for the business’s roller shutter doors as we speak and it’ll be even bigger than the one seen on the vans.
