MORE THAN JUST A VAN

MORE THAN JUST A VAN

PGM’s stunner from Elite Signs and Graphics strides confidently in a new direction for trade vehicles…

As anyone who’s subscribed to Metamark’s social media will know, we have a particular affection for dark coloured vans and many have featured in our various feeds over the years. Dark coloured vehicles present a dramatic canvas for vehicle graphics and still ring the brain-bell as being distinctive. Despite their growing numbers, they are still comprehensively outnumbered by white vehicles.

Another ‘trend’ that’s got our attention is the rise of the ‘van’ to a status that’s beyond that of a utility vehicle. There was a time when a typical trade vehicle sported more dents resulting from internal impacts than those inflicted by day-to-day bumps. Unloved and very hard worked, they just did the miles, retired and that was it. Today though, more vehicles than ever are both utility tools and personal transport platforms. They’re well cared for and they look it.

It’s not at all unusual for owners of very well-tended trade vehicles to find their way to Elite Signs and Graphics’ doors when looking for vehicle livery and graphics. Simon James and the team at Elite have impressed a very big reputation for the company and its capabilities in South Wales and beyond and have done so one vehicle at a time. Pioneering exponents in adventurous livery and graphics work, Elite send some of the most imaginative and distinctive graphics out into the wild and delights its customers.

One of the most recent vehicles to rock up to Elite belongs to Brian Paddick and he, in turn, owns PGM; that’s a building company with a very impressive gallery of completed works to its credit. PGM had an existing livery design for its vehicles but in view of the fact its new vehicle was pretty ‘shouty’ even without graphics, were looking for something a bit more restrained, classy, understated even.

The team at Elite Signs and Graphics fell over themselves to work on PGM’s very distinctive van and between them produced a design that succeeds at many levels. It relies on contrasts drawn from the colours available the hefty Metamark M7 Swatch and works with the vehicle neither dominating nor distracting. It’s tempting to call it simple but ‘carefully considered and brilliantly executed’ might be more appropriate.

With its neon-like Metamark M7 logo radiating out of the dark fields of colour surrounding, and the immaculate lines of the tastefully enhanced vehicle working in concert, this is among the best of the crop we’ve seen recently and, according to Simon James, his customer agrees.

Let’s not forget this is a trade vehicle. Let’s agree though it’s anything but old-school. The phrase is well worn, but this one is in a class of its own. Great job, Elite.
