If you ever find yourself in Bridport down there in beautiful Dorset, check this out…
Colin Crabb runs a successful signs and graphics business in Bridport, Dorset. It answers to the name of Vertiworks. Colin’s partner, Gemma, isn’t involved in his sign business. She occupies her working day running Gemma’s Flowers in the same town. It’s, surprise surprise, a florist shop.
To the right of Gemma’s shop there’s a green door and it wears a little homespun philosophy rendered in some beautifully designed type that Colin created and applied quite a while ago. Metamark reported news of it at the time and it’s looking as good as the day Colin applied it thanks in part to it being made from Metamark 7 Series sign vinyl. It’s a popular door - people stop and have pictures taken by it.
Right next door is Gemma’s shop. Having a partner in the signs and graphics business is handy at the best of times and particularly so when you have a high street business and Christmas is on the way. Gemma wanted something to give her windows a bit of Christmas look and feel. Colin obliged.
Colin turned to the Metamark etch effects swatch and selected from it a material for a frosty looking frieze he’d envisaged. Adding to that some simple lettering, cut from Metamark 7 series again, and applied, finishes a simple ensemble that, taken with other seasonal elements in the shop, delivers Christmas to the kerb.
Come spring, new words will be needed and Colin will have by then removed the Christmas message. The frieze has proved popular and that’s staying.
Sometimes the very simplest of design and applications create an effect that’s a joy to behold. This is one of those times. Take a look. You can’t miss it. It’s next to the green door.
