Studio 51 bags a Mac in Metamark’s Competition Survey…

Studio 51 is a creative printer based in Rawtenstall; that’s pretty well in the centre of a triangle drawn between Blackburn, Burnley and Rochdale. The ’51’ reference in the company’s name is a nod toward ‘Area 51’ perhaps; the design-led printer’s logo is formed around a stylised flying saucer with its rim picked out in CMYK highlights. It’s not clear whether the ‘saucer is delivering stuff to ground with the otherworldly beam issuing from it, or sucking things up. Let’s just say alien interventions appear ‘involved’ in the triangle, and one look at the company’s website tells you the creative excellence isn’t in short supply.

The team at Studio 51 recently got an invitation to participate in a survey Metamark was conducting to gather a bit of fresh, market feedback about itself and its products. They accepted and the responses they sent went into the ‘hat’ at Metamark’s marketing HQ in Woking with lots of others’. It fell to Max Somper, Metamark’s Commercial Director, to make the draw by picking a random number between one and ’n,’ n being the number of entries received. Max called ’51.’

Nothing other than the purest of coincidences accorded Studio 51’s entry the number ’51’ but, in the instant the number was called, Studio 51 found itself one very nice Apple Laptop to the good. They’d won the ‘Mac. The prize was presented to the team at Studio 51 in the person of Metamark’s regional manager for the area, Tim Dawson, who was obviously delighted that his customer had won the desirable hardware.

While the customer got a very useful ‘Mac for its efforts, Metamark gathered lots of great, actionable insights from the exercise. Metamark has always gone to lengths to ensure that its products reflect the needs of customers and markets, and data from a large-scale survey enables a lot of rigour to the process. That’s time and effort well spent in Metamark’s view.

Clearly the team at Studio 51 are happy with the outcome having bagged a really useful computer. David Brooks at Studio 51, who received the prize from our Tim, numbers himself among the countless legions of people who enter competitions now and then but, “who’ve never won anything in my life.”

We’re delighted to have heralded a change of competition-fortune for David and the team at Studio 51, and to number this very creative company among our customers. We’ll be doing the survey again at some point in the future and so, while saying thanks to everyone who entered this time, watch out for the next to come along.  Someone has to win and, who knows, it could be you.
