UP WITH THE LARKS WITH METAMARK'S MD CLASS

Elite Signs and Graphics responds to a customer with very definite ideas about livery design and delivers beyond expectations…

Man wraps van. It happens every day. Elite Signs and Graphics strive though to turn the everyday into something that’s altogether more memorable, more remarkable and ultimately more effective. Among the recent work Simon James and his team have undertaken includes a livery for Lark Craft Workshops. The customer wanted a livery to promote their business and came to Elite with a well developed idea in mind. In some ways, working with design that’s prescriptive is more difficult than starting with a completely blank sheet.

In Lark’s case, the idea was off to a good start. The customer clearly set out to “use” the whole vehicle as a canvas rather than confining their ideas to areas of the vehicle defined by panel boundaries. It doesn’t always make life easy when wrapping but it does get great results.

The customer’s ideas were presented in the form of a drawing. The Elite Signs team set about breathing life into it adding fields of colour contrasting with the livery’s dominant elements and effectively dividing the van, not into panel sections, but into the parts of the basic design. It worked. The customer had his vision affirmed and Elite achieve the validation of its ideas that it needed to proceed.

The visual, as presented to the customer was the first step in bringing the prescribed idea to life. It was received without reservation and the Elite team then set about delivering the livery itself.

What looks sensational on paper has to make the journey to a dimensional substrate without its flow and form being lost. Elite Sign and Graphics has developed a great reputation and become very adept in living outside the confines of templates and in working instead with the form of the vehicle. They “cut” major elements of the livery on the vehicle using knifeless tape. This helps achieve results that work “outside the box” and which otherwise confine others who follow vehicle geometry slavishly.

Clearly, print plays a major role in filling in the design with its many components. We design with the elements in position and we print with an eye to achieving something as near to a flawless finish as technology allows. Metamark MD Class digital materials contribute enormously.

In the case of the design delivered for Lark, Elite’s work presents as a cohesive whole comprising many elements. Colour brings it all together. Design leads the eye over the vehicle. It presents brilliantly no matter what angle it's viewed from. It succeeds in delivering a halo of great credibility to the business it promotes and it’s memorable in the extreme.
