Where does a tug captain go when he needs his tug’s windows tinting? D-Sign Studio, that’s where…

Jonathan Dudley and his team at D-Sign Studio in Milford Haven still have the capacity to be surprised when some jobs come along. It’s getting harder though. The procession is a steady one. Vehicles, of course. A go-kart here. A motor-bike there. Even an excavator or two. The latest though didn’t need any dramatic help - ‘can you tint the window on my tug?’

JD and the team are well know for their tinting talents and it was for this reason that the tug operators came along to D-Sign Studio for its tints. The need was a simple one. Winter sun low in the sky. The need to retain good quality vision out of the tug’s widows when engaged in all that potentially catastrophic close-quarters manoeuvring. Tugs have phenomenal bollard pulling power and, if misdirected, even for a moment, the results could be costly.

When it comes to fitting tints a window is pretty much a window. Apart from having to go to sea to fit the job, it was pretty much business as usual for Jonathan Dudley and team. Needless to say the application went - swimmingly.

D-Sign Studio used Metamark Solar Window Tinting Film for the tug windows. This film retains the clarity of view needed to the outside from in, and inhibits the passage of UV light too. Applying it requires a superset of skills a little beyond normal self-adhesive material which D-Sign has in spades. The result then is everything that the customer wanted and another notch in the post for the D-Signs Team.

In addition to visual enhancement, the Metamark film imparts solar control properties too. It helps control the rise of soak temperatures and makes the environment much more comfortable for occupants. By keeping the temperature under control, energy costs are saved too.
