Suffolk-based Creative Penguin produces a promotional wrap for a local broadcaster which shows that the company delivers quality as standard, even for short-term applications…
The Nissan Juke is quite a muscular looking vehicle but its designers and manufacturers were much more restrained when it came to specifying the OEM colours in which it would be made available. Sadly, an eye-watering orange wasn’t on the table and so local motor dealer, EMG had to pursue other options when the broadcaster KLFM came looking for a vehicle to support an awareness raising promotion.
The idea was, the radio station would broadcast content discussing the vehicle and anyone who saw it and, when safe, touched it, would get a spot-prize. A The Nissan Juke was elected as the vehicle to carry the promo. Playing on the ‘Juke’ element, a theme emerged. A cheeky nod toward the ‘Dukes’ of Hazard gained momentum but it required a sizzling orange vehicle.
Enter Creative Penguin. The Suffolk based signs and graphics producer was challenged by EMG to transform the Juke into something of an homage to the General Lee. That’d mean changing the base colour and adding some cut and applied graphics. A design was agreed by Creative Penguin with its customer and work could then begin.
Despite only requiring a working life of about two weeks, Creative Penguin’s work for EMG and KLFM looks anything but short-term. The quality is nothing short of outstanding. The wrap application is flawless as are the printed and applied elements. To cast this work in the role of a short-term wrap, you’d need to open the vehicles doors and it’s then you’d see that the shuts are not covered - yes, that’s a white Juke underneath all that exemplary wrapping work. It’s a statement piece - it needed to look sensational for two week but it’s so good that few who see and touch it are likely to ever forget it - and that’s it’s very point delivered.
Creative Penguin’s team reached for Metamark materials to make economic sense of this job and to make both application and finished results the best they can be. The colour-change is the work of Metamark MM-CC and the print/cut elements are typically high quality being printed on Metamark MD5-A.
The bright orange Juke did its job and did it brilliantly thanks for Creative Penguins work. All that remained at the end of the promo was to remove the graphics reveal a pristine vehicle underneath which was returned to EMG. Thanks to the Metamark materials used, not a trace of adhesive was left on the vehicle. All that remained was an enduring impression of just how good a short-term promotional piece can look when its held against the high standards of expert applicators and designers.
Brilliant job, Creative Penguin.
