Tom Jackson has come a long way, figuratively and actually, since first piloting a Ginetta Junior racing car when he was but fifteen years old. It wasn’t long before he was at the helm of much faster machines and racing toward a career highlight; winning for Aston Martin at Le Mans last June and surveying a hundred and fifty thousand fans from a vantage point on the first place podium while the national anthem played.
Tom’s got an even faster set of wheels under him now as he gets himself acclimatised to the highly competitive environment surrounding the Porsche Carrera Cup and the cars that make it possible. The televised series has a very dedicated following and a huge broadcast viewing. The racing is close and comprises a grid dripping with racing talent all racing identical 911 GT Cup cars each sporting almost 500HP and little weight. The difference between victory and arriving late at the finish line boils down to preparation and the performance of the man at the wheel.
