THE ART OF SELF PROMOTION
The sign is emblematic and does a very good job, as if it were needed, of announcing Las Vegas. It also says much about signs as a medium. It’s often argued that if the very notion of a sign had a logo, this would be it.
Yeovil is a few miles from Las Vegas but its home nonetheless to NG Signs. Neil who’s the N in NG, decided that he needed a means to promote his signage business and set about crafting something that might turn a few heads. He didn’t take long cheekily appropriating, for his own purposes, the very sign that the sign industry might claim as its own. Not having much of a ‘strip,’ in Yeovil, he used it on his premises roller shutter door.
Neil’s sparkling example of self promotion was printed on Metamark MD5 which was then laminated with MG700 ensuring the job would last. Application to shutters is never an easy job but this example has obviously gone well for Neil and for Metamark digital media.
Preparation is key, according to Neil. So the door was cleaned to within an inch of its life and then the detail work could take over. Every plank in the shutter needs attention in terms of getting its edges covered and that’s how the result looks as good as it does.
A starring role in Neil’s eye-catching production is Lemmy. Lemmy’s the dog at the bottom of the sign. Neil’s had him since he was a pup and he’s been part of the NG team since then. A few sign companies in the UK have mascots, but this is the only one that we know who has a starring role in a sign promoting the business.
Roller shutters represent a great promotional opportunity for the companies that occupy the premises behind them so, in addition to promoting his own business, Neil’s also promoting a winning application for digital print. We confidently predict the shutter is going to win business for NG Signs.
Give them a call, ask for Lemmy.
