COMPLEX CUTS WITHOUT KNIVES
There’s a long established need for cutting and trimming graphics when they’re in-situ on the vehicle and that demand intensified with the advent of vehicle wrapping. Cutting adhered graphics is a risky business though. The vehicle’s top coat or factory paint finish is only a matter of microns away from the sharp tip of the knife that’s doing the cutting. One slip, and the knife’s in and down to the metal. The applicator might not even know until a customer approaches with a black cloud over his head and a rusty cut-line bordering his graphics.
Where there’s a need, an invention will surely follow and salvation for graphics applicators everywhere arrived in the shape of knifeless and and filament tapes. These toolbox essentials help wrappers and anyone adhering anything to the side of a vehicle to do the required trimming and cutting on the vehicle but without using a knife.
How do they work? Brilliantly!
The products comprise a strong and very thin filament bound up in an arrangement of release and adhering tape that can be applied to a vehicle before the graphics go on it. The tapes are very artfully designed so that they can be applied in arrow-straight lines or gently coerced around complicated panel and trim shapes. With the tape applied, the graphics go on and usually overlap the tape by a variable margin. All the applicator has then to do is release the filament trapped in the tape and pull it out. The filament then cuts the graphics or trims it to shape with no danger of nicking or scarring the vehicle. The remaining tape is then pulled out from the edge of the applied graphic and the job’s done.
