The UK categorisation for the Road Traffic Signs has been amended in 2006 to follow the European standard, reversing the current Class identification. A product that to date was referred to as Class 1 Reflective, now meets Class Ref 2, and vice versa, as follows: |
| |
|
|
Old Regulations
BS873 part 6 1983 (British Standard) |
NEW Regulations
BS EN 12899-1 (European Standard) |
Class 1 (Hi-Intensity Grade) > |
Class Ref 2 |
Class 2 (Engineering Grade) > |
Class Ref 1 |
| |
|
|
| |
As of 1st January 2006 the new standard was introduced into the Permanent Road Traffic Sign Market - BS EN 122899-1; 2001. This is the new national standard for fixed, permanent road traffic signs, replacing BS873 part 6, 1983. |
