Paul and John sought the services of Charlie Tibbettand his Abergavenny based signs and graphics company, KK Designs, to provide the styling touches to the Pioneer. having been referred to him by the 'plane's UK agent.

KK Designs' livery is an attractive and understated work that accentuates the Pioneer's purposeful lines and dynamic posture whether she's cutting across the sky or sat on the tarmac. Digitally printed on Metamark's exterior grade, MD class polished metallic film using a Roland VersaCAMM, the livery is swept in colour and density and clearly reflects back to the observer a changing colour-cast mirroring the plane's surrounding. The livery is laminated with Metamark MG900 to protect it from the elements it will encounter.

Hot on the heels of gravity in terms of strictly enforced laws and rules is the standard to which self-built aircraft must be designed and constructed. Paul Salter Garland and John decided to go to established Italian kit 'plane manufacturer, Alpi Aviation, for their machine, the Pioneer 300. Many months and long hours later and having drafted in some essential help from an expert engineer on the type , the result now stands on the apron looking every inch the high-performance Lotus Elise of the sky she is.

Building a sports 'plane, even from an advanced kit, is an intimidating and time consuming project. With so much time and energy being invested in the build, the fit and finish must be of the highest order too.
